Understanding DELF French Levels: A Guide for Parents

DELF法语等级详解:A1.1到B2意味着什么?

As the November DELF exam season approaches, many parents begin asking similar questions:

  • Which DELF level should my child take?

  • What do A1.1, A1, A2, B1 and B2 actually mean?

  • Can students skip a level?

  • What level of French do students usually achieve through school programmes?

Let's start with the most important question: what does each DELF level actually represent?

随着11月DELF考试季临近,许多家长都会问:

  • 我的孩子适合考哪个等级?

  • A1.1、A1、A2、B1和B2到底意味着什么?

  • 可以跳级考吗?

  • 学校法语课程毕业后通常能达到什么水平?

让我们先从最重要的问题开始:每个等级到底代表什么能力?

  • A1.1 is designed for young learners who are just beginning French. Students can introduce themselves, talk about familiar topics such as family, school, food and holidays, understand simple spoken and written French, and describe pictures using basic sentences.

For many children, A1.1 is their first official French qualification and an excellent confidence builder.

    A1.1是专为法语初学者设计的入门等级。学生能够进行简单自我介绍,围绕家庭、学校、食物和假期等熟悉话题进行交流,理解简单的法语听力和阅读材料,并运用基础句型描述图片。

    对于许多孩子来说,A1.1是第一次参加官方法语考试,也是建立学习信心的重要一步。

  • At A1 level, students can communicate using simple French. They can talk about hobbies, describe people and places, ask and answer simple questions, and write short messages.

For many primary school learners, A1 is the most common DELF goal and provides a strong foundation for future French studies.

    学生能够使用简单法语进行交流,谈论兴趣爱好、描述人物和地点,并完成简单写作任务。

    对于大多数持续学习法语的小学生来说,A1是最常见、也最合理的阶段目标。

  • At A2 level, students can communicate more confidently in everyday situations, express simple opinions and understand longer texts and conversations.

Although DELF provides DELF Prim A2 level, relatively few primary school learners reach it. For students learning French as a second language, A2 is already a significant achievement.

    达到A2水平后,学生已经能够在更多真实场景中使用法语,表达自己的想法,并理解较长的听力和阅读内容。

    虽然DELF Prim提供A2考试,但对于新西兰将法语作为第二外语学习的学生来说,小学阶段达到A2并不常见。A2通常被视为一个重要的学习里程碑,也是许多学生进入中学后继续努力的目标。

  • At B1 level, students can discuss familiar topics, explain opinions and experiences, and use French independently in many real-life situations. B1 is often considered a strong secondary-school French level.

    达到B1后,学生已经能够较独立地使用法语,表达观点、分享经历,并应对大多数日常交流场景。

    B1通常被认为是优秀高中法语学生能够达到的水平。许多青少年法语教材的最终学习目标也是B1,可见B1已经是一个相当不错的法语水平。

  • At B2 level, students can participate in discussions, defend their ideas and use French for academic study. B2 exceeds the level reached by most secondary-school French learners.

    学生能够参与较复杂的话题讨论,清晰表达和论证观点,并使用法语进行学习。

    B2已经超过大多数中学法语课程的要求,也是许多高级法语学习者努力追求的重要目标。

Can Students Skip a DELF Level? Yes.

DELF does not require students to complete every level in sequence. A student may choose A2 as their first DELF examination or move directly from A1 to B1. However, DELF assesses listening, reading, writing and speaking skills. The most suitable level should therefore be based on overall proficiency rather than simply aiming for the highest possible exam

可以跳级考吗?可以。

DELF并不要求学生必须逐级考试。例如,学生可以第一次考试直接报考A2,也可以从A1直接挑战B1。

不过,DELF同时考察听力、阅读、写作和口语四项能力,因此最适合的等级应根据学生的整体水平来决定,而不是单纯追求更高的考试级别。
