A Joyful First Session at French Fun Club
Botany
Last Sunday (26 July), Chanson Languages partnered with Botany Library, part of Auckland Council Libraries, to host the first French Fun Club. The session welcomed 20 children and more than 30 participants, including parents, for a fun-filled morning of French language and culture.
The response from families across East Auckland was beyond our expectations. Although the session had reached capacity, several families still came hoping to join, with many observing the class and registering for the waiting list.
Like many children attending a new class, some were shy at first. However, through French songs, games, crafts, and interactive activities, the room soon filled with smiles and laughter. The children quickly gained confidence while discovering the joy of learning French.
We were delighted to receive wonderful feedback from parents after the session. One child went home singing the French songs and even continued singing them at school. A Year 1 student enthusiastically said, "Perfect! Give me more!"Another parent was amazed that their five-year-old remained fully engaged for the entire hour and still didn't want to leave.
A special thank you to our three young helpers from Chanson Languages—Allison, Yanice, and Alex. Their kindness, patience, and enthusiasm helped the younger children feel welcome and confident. Seeing our own students supporting others was a wonderful reminder that learning is also about sharing, encouraging, and growing together.
We sincerely thank Botany Library for partnering with us on this free community programme, and every family who joined us. We look forward to welcoming more children to future French Fun Club sessions and sharing the joy of French language and culture with our community.
Give me more!”
The programme continues with weekly French Fun Club sessions.
