Cockle Bay School’s First After-School French Cohort All Pass the DELF Prim Exam

DELF Prim

In October 2024, a group of students began their French learning journey in the after-school French programme at Cockle Bay School.

This year, they reached an important milestone by completing the DELF Prim A1.1, an official French language diploma awarded by the French Ministry of National Education.

We are delighted to share that every student in the first after-school French class sat the exam, and every student passed.

A Result Worth Celebrating

This first cohort achieved excellent results:

  • 100% of students sat the DELF Prim A1.1 exam

  • 100% passed

  • Every student scored 86/100 or above

  • More than half scored 90/100 or above

  • Highest score: 95.5/100

Some parents may wonder whether a score in the 80s is considered a strong DELF result.

The answer is yes.

The official passing mark for DELF Prim A1.1 is 50/100, while every student in this cohort achieved 86/100 or above.

For reference, France commonly uses a 20-point grading scale, where 16/20 is considered Très bien ("Very Good"). A score of 86/100 is equivalent to 17.2/20, placing every student in a very strong achievement range.

These results reflect the children's hard work, consistent learning, and steady progress throughout the programme.

More Than an Exam

While we are proud of these results, what matters even more is the journey.

These children all began as complete beginners. They learned together, encouraged one another, and completed their first international French examination as a class.

At Chanson Languages, we believe language learning is not about comparing children or chasing perfect scores. Our goal is to help every learner develop curiosity, build confidence, and communicate in French with growing independence.

The DELF exam is an important milestone—but it is only the beginning of their French journey.

Congratulations to every student in our very first after-school French class!

Our heartfelt thanks go to Cockle Bay School for its ongoing support of language education, and to every parent for their trust, encouragement, and partnership throughout this journey. This wonderful achievement is the result of the combined efforts of the school, the families, and, most importantly, the students themselves.

May our students continue to explore the world with Curiosity, Confidence, and Communication, embracing every new opportunity that lies ahead.

DELF Prim A1.1
